چکیده
been widely accepted as an effective method to treat acute deep vein thrombosis of the lower extremities (13). Vascular access through the popliteal vein is the most common route for the procedure. To date, procedure-related complications such as hemorrhaging, pulmonary embolism, infection and, sepsis have been reported. However, to our knowledge, iatrogenic arteriovenous fistulas have not been reported to date (4). We experienced a case of an arteriovenous fistula between the sural artery and popliteal vein and report it as one of the potential complications after endovascular thrombolytic therapy of acute deep vein thrombosis. Inferior vena cava filter insertion through the popliteal vein: enabling the percutaneous endovenous intervention of deep vein thrombosis with a single venous access approach in a single session.
PURPOSE We aimed to evaluate the efficiency of placing an inferior vena cava (IVC) filter through the same popliteal vein access site used for percutaneous endovenous intervention in patients with extensive lower extremity deep vein thrombosis. METHODS This retrospective study included 21 patients who underwent IVC filter insertion through the popliteal vein over a three-year period. Patient ...

Background: Deep vein thrombosis is an important cause of morbidity and mortality. However, its association with adenomatous polyposis coli is extremely rare. Here we present an interesting case of deep vein thrombosis associated with adenomatous polyposis coli. Case Presentation: A 15 year old female who was having fever and diarrhea for 5 months developed bilateral asymmetric painful swell...
متن کاملDetecting Baker's cyst: venous duplex scanning in ambulatory setting.
Popliteal cyst, also called Baker's cyst, is a popliteal fossa enlargement filled with synovial fluid. Baker's cysts can be symptomatic and cause considerable pathologies such as thrombophlebitis, compartment syndrome and even nerve entrapment. It is the most common nonvascular pathology seen in the popliteal fossa but clinically indistinguishable from deep vein thrombosis. The aim of the prese...

Background and objectives: Recently, deep vein thrombosis (DVT) has remained a major cause of morbidity and death. DVT is a serious public health issue and can be complicated by pulmonary embolism and stroke leading to high economic burden. Disease etiologies may include protein C deficiency, protein S deficiency, factor V Leiden gene mutation, prothrombin gene 20210A mutation,...
متن کاملIsolated deep cerebral venous thrombosis treated by direct endovascular thrombolysis.
BACKGROUND Isolated thrombosis of the deep cerebral venous system is very rare and is associated with a poor prognosis. Antithrombin III (AT III) deficiency is a disorder of hypercoagulability associated with deep venous thrombosis and recurrent pulmonary emboli. We report a case of an 18-year-old man who presented with spontaneous thrombosis of the deep cerebral veins and straight dural sinus ...
